Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain appeared twice for England over the international period, and scored his first international goal in the process!
The winger started alongside Theo Walcott against San Marino on Friday and scored in the 5-0 win, lifting the ball over the goalkeeper from inside the area after Tom Cleverley had set him up.
Sadly for Walcott, he was injured just 10 minutes into the game. Kieran Gibbs had also been called up to the squad but had to withdraw after picking up an injury against West Ham.
Next up for England was a tough-looking trip to Poland. The match eventually took place on Wednesday afternoon, after a waterlogged pitch had caused an abandonment on Tuesday evening.
Despite taking the lead through Wayne Rooney, Poland equalised 20 minutes from time.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was brought on for Rooney after 73 minutes as England tried in vain to find a winner.
Roy Hodgson’s team still top Group H though, having taken eight points from their first four games.Copyright 2017 The Arsenal Football Club plc. Permission to use quotations from this article is granted subject to appropriate credit being given to www.arsenal.com as the source
