BAGBAR - JG Review

Earlier this month, more than 200 Junior Gunners descended on Emirates Stadium to take part in the Club’s annual Be a Gunner. Be a Runner. charity fun-run, in aid of The Arsenal Foundation.

After an energetic warm-up with Gunnersaurus, the race action got underway with two races separating the large field of Junior Gunners – a one-lap race around the Gunners’ home for youngsters aged six and under, and a two-lap version for those aged 7-14.

The first boy past the post in the one-lap race was James Smeaton (aged six), who was closely followed by Emily Morley (five), the first girl past the finishing line. George Leffman (14) took the trophy in the two-lap race, while Elodie Soteriou (aged 10) was the first girl across the line. The speedy winners all received a special trophy and a limited edition Ben Tallon illustration of Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, personally signed by the Ox himself.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all of those JGs that took part and particularly those that have raised sponsorship. To date, the whole event has raised more than £40,000 – a fantastic figure which will help the Arsenal Foundation to continue its important work transforming the lives of young people in the UK and overseas.

See you all again next year!
