It's sad but true that Eduardo's time at Arsenal will be best remembered for the horrific injury he suffered at Birmingham in February 2008.
The Croatian striker suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle after a challenge from Martin Taylor and missed a year of first-team football.
But it's important to remember that, before his injury, Eduardo was considered the Club's most clinical finisher since Ian Wright.
He scored 12 goals from 22 starts in his first season at Emirates Stadium and was starting to flourish amid the hustle and bustle of English football.
Events at St. Andrew's changed all that.
Eduardo's return to competitive action was probably the most heartwarming sight of the 2008/09 season and he showed the fans what they had been missing, marking his comeback with an FA Cup brace against Cardiff and then an impudent volley against Burnley in his next match.
But a succession of niggling injuries - perfectly common after such a lengthy lay-off - and Arsene Wenger's shift to a 4-3-3 formation restricted Eduardo's appearances.
He got the occasional chance to shine, but his chances to goals ratio was notably worse than it was before his injury.
And when he moved to Shakhtar Donetsk in July 2010, we were left to wonder what might have been had Eduardo not been cut off in his prime.
