Comfortable playing in midfield or as a full back, Lassana Diarra did not last long at Arsenal after his move from Chelsea on transfer deadline day in August 2007.
Ultimately Diarra only spent six months at the Club before moving on to Portsmouth and then Real Madrid.
A former Young Player of the Year at both Le Harve and Chelsea, the French international made his Arsenal debut as a substitute in a Champions League win over Seville in September 2007. The following weekend he came off the bench again as Arsenal stuck five past Derby.
Diarra's first start came in the League Cup against Newcastle and he was handed his first Premier League start as Arsenal beat Wigan in November.
A string of appearances followed but a perceived lack of opportunities drove Diarra, who was behind the likes of Fabregas and Flamini in the midfield pecking order, away from Arsenal.
