When Richard Wright saved a penalty on his home debut against Panathinaikos, it seemed as though Arsène Wenger may have found a long-term successor to David Seaman.
But the young shot-stopper would only stay with the Gunners for one season, leaving for Everton in search of regular first-team action.
A graduate of the Ipswich Town academy, Wright arrived at Arsenal in 2001 aged 23 and with almost 300 senior appearances to his name.
He added another 22 at Arsenal but acted as understudy to Seaman who spent part of the season on the sidelines.
Once Seaman returned to fitness Wright's opportunities were limited to the FA Cup. The England prospect needed games and he moved to Merseyside after just 12 months in North London.
