Bob Turnbull made the unorthodox yet successful transition from full back to striker during Arsenal's time of need.
In fact, Turnbull was so adept to his new position that he scored 20 goals in the 1922/23 campaign, making him the Club's leading goalscorer for the season.

He could never quite live up to the heights of that year but continued to play a prominent role under Leslie Knighton.
Turnbull made 66 appearances during his Arsenal career before moving to Charlton Athletic in November 1924. He later featured for Chelsea, Clapton Orient and Southend before finishing his career with Crystal Palace, where he later became a trainer for several years.
