John Spicer did not make the grade at Arsenal but forged a healthy career for himself in the Football League.
The midfielder broke through the youth ranks at London Colney before making his one and only first-team appearance in the Carling Cup against Rotherham in October 2003.

Cesc Fabregas also made his debut on that night as Arsenal went through on penalties but Spicer struggled to stay in Arsene Wenger's plans.
The Romford-born midfielder turned a successful loan spell with Bournemouth into a permanent move in 2004 before earning himself a switch to Championship side Burnley, where he made almost 80 appearances.
Spicer later featured for Doncaster, Leyton Orient and Notts County.
