Olafur-Ingi Skulason

Olafur-Ingi Skulason was a youngster who did not quite make the grade at Highbury.

The Icelandic midfielder joined as an 18-year-old in July 2001 after a successful youth career with Fylkir but struggled to make inroads into Arsene Wenger's first-team set-up.

Skulason did make one appearance - as a substitute in the 5-1 League Cup victory over Wolves in December 2003 - but he didn’t get another chance.

During his time in north London he made his international debut for Iceland, the first of more than a dozen appearances for his national team.

Skulason was eventually released in 2005 via a successful loan spell with former club Fylkir and joined Brentford on a permanent deal.

Injury hampered his time at Griffin Park, however, and Skulason went on to play for Helsingborgs (Sweden), SønderjyskE (Denmark) and Zulte Waregem (Belgium).
