Ted Platt joined Arsenal as an amateur from Colchester United in December 1938 before signing professional terms a month later.
The goalkeeper served with the Royal Fusiliers in North Africa and Italy during the war and made his full Arsenal debut in the league against Leeds in November 1946.

Platt played a bit-part role at first and did not become a regular until the 1949/50 campaign. He transferred to Portsmouth in September 1953 before playing for Aldershot, Worcester City and Ashford.
