Scotland international Johnny Macleod joined the Club for £40,000 – then a record fee for a winger – in 1961 and quickly established himself in the side.
Manager Billy Wright preferred to play with just one winger, but despite this policy Macleod went on to play 112 times for Arsenal, contributing 28 goals over three seasons.
