Mostly used as a holding midfielder, Cregg featured for Arsenal at Under-17, Under-19 and reserve team level before making his senior debut as an 89th-minute substitute for Arturo Lupoli in the Gunners’ 3-1 Carling Cup win over Everton on November 9, 2004.
The Republic of Ireland Under-19 international made a further two senior appearances for Arsenal, both in the Carling Cup, before moving north of the border to Falkirk in January 2006.
