Peter Connolly joined Woolwich Arsenal after finding work at the Royal Arsenal in 1888.
Previously with Kircaldy Wanderers, the talented Fife-born utility man could play at either full back or centre forward.

Connolly scored 52 goals in 129 senior appearances for Royal Arsenal and made his debut for an amateur Woolwich in an FA Cup qualifier against Lyndhurst in October 1889. He played six times, all in cup competitions.
Connolly was part of the movement which created Royal Ordnance FC, a workers' team left to fill the void in between matches, and was one of five amateurs from Woolwich Arsenal to defect to the new side.
