Versatile centre back Rob was Arsenal’s third signing of the 2016 summer transfer window when he joined from Bolton Wanderers.

The defender joined his childhood club aged seven, and rose through the youth ranks before making his professional debut on loan at Bury aged 19, against Cambridge United.

He made his Bolton debut a few months later against Burton in the League Cup, and soon cemented his place in the side with a string of impressive performances in the Championship. While he could not prevent Bolton from being relegated to League One, he was voted their Player of the Season.

A reliable defender who is comfortable on the ball, Rob also earned himself a reputation for being a goalscorer during his time in Bolton’s academy and scored his first senior goal in January 2016 against MK Dons.

Rob’s first senior season also saw him make his England Under-21 debut in the Toulon Tournament in May 2016, helping the Three Lions win the competition.
