Frank Stubbs, Fans' Diarist, July 15, 2010

Popping into a local pub last week the landlord enquired if we are likely to be signing anyone before the season started. With Marouane Chamakh and Laurent Koscielny almost creeping into the Arsenal family that pretty much summed up how things have probably looked from the outside.

Marouane, Laurent, welcome to the greatest football club in the world. We all look forward to seeing you in the red, white and yellow.

Talking of which, from a personal point of view I am absolutely delighted we have returned to a yellow away kit. I have never liked any of the other colours and really struggle to remember any season where we have won something without it. Wembley 71, Wembley 79, Anfield 89, Old Trafford 02... all big bright fantastic yellow days.

Pre-season training has been underway for a week or so and the tour this year includes our tenth anniversary of enjoying Austrian hospitality and an exciting weekend trip to Poland.

Before all that however, it's off to Barnet for what has become the traditional opener.

Hope to see you there.
