Saturday was a strange one for me, my whole usual pre-match routine thrown due to being fortunate enough to spend a few moments pitchside before kick-off. I start my thoughts today with that information because I remember one of the guys asking me for my hopes for the pending game. My response was to confirm I would definitely take a 1-0 and three points to get our season back on track after a difficult week.
With that in mind I went home happy with my day's haul, even if it wasn't a performance that will live long in the memory!
Since the Schalke defeat it has been a busy time for me personally, a hectic work period coinciding with joining the Iceland Gooners for their 30th anniversary dinner on the Thursday night and a visit to the O2 Arena on Friday to see Muse.
Come Saturday and arriving into a cold N5, it felt like my feet hadn't really touched the ground since last time I was there!
Being 'interviewed' is not something I am used to but I enjoyed the experience just before kick-off, a short period where I also got the chance to stand shoulder to shoulder with a real Arsenal legend in Charlie George.
As a consequence of all of the above, by the time I reached my seat I felt like I hadn't thought or analysed the game in any way!
Above all else a win is usually extremely important, Saturday it felt even more so. This we got of course, even if it took to the latter stages to finally make that all important breakthrough.
Once again, nobody can sensibly claim we were at our best but taking the positives alongside the victory, Jack and Bacary made their long-awaited returns, looking sharp and raring to go and from a performance point of view I was pleased with the way we kept going right to the very end in pursuit of the win.
Enjoying a fellow Gooner's birthday was always on the agenda, for all those present however, it always seems to go more swimmingly after a win!
A midweek trip to Berkshire comes next with the interesting looking League Cup tie away at Reading on Tuesday night.
Pre-match plans look quite entertaining once again so once again I am filled with the usual anticipation.
Come on you Reds.
