Recording my thoughts usually takes place at my desk but with overseas tours it tends to be whenever I can grab an opportunity. Never in my 35 years of being a passionate Gooner, however, did I think I would be carrying out this task on my way back from visiting The Great Wall of China.
Yesterday's early-morning flight from Kuala Lumpur began what should be an entertaining but potentially exhausting few days. Late nights are great - but I'm not a big fan of the early mornings that are following during this part of the trip!
Arriving in a hot, humid and smoggy Chinese capital city, initial plans were to head to the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium for the open training session.
With the metro system successfully negotiated, we joined the Gooners from this part of the world, their passion on par with that already experienced on the tour.
The session proved entertaining for all present, the benefits to the squad being obvious and the lighthearted feel to the whole event providing plenty for those present to enjoy.
Late night 'street food' came next with the choices available to us ranging from the UK to the weird to the wonderful. I like to have a 'dabble' when it comes to these kinds of things but there were a few that even my appetite didn't find appealing!
This morning's early start to see one of the world's great sights brings me up to date before tonight's match at the spectacular Bird's Nest Stadium.
Something else to savour, of course, before my early-morning flight to Hong Kong tomorrow.
My visit has been brief on this occasion but thanks China all the same.
