Sitting here enjoying a spot of lunch overlooking the huge lake where the Austrian tourist town of Neusiedl is located, I cannot help but feel that our latest Austrian adventure is near its conclusion.
With such a large gap between the two matches on this occasion, the weekend has been no more than an opportunity to enjoy the fun and frolics this part of the world offers when the working week is over.
The entertainment manager and surely King of Austria Mr Andreas Kovacs once again looked after all Gooners from far and wide with yet another well-organised Friday night event in a town near to the training base and with daylight meeting bedtime it was another full-on occasion. Stories are too many to mention but if you know anyone who was there, ask them about 'Borat'!!
Saturday and the local hostelry played host for a night we have seen many times before, the evening also being the one night of the pre-season camp where the players too get to enjoy a 'night off'.
As a result Sunday was fairly low key but one thing the 'Arsenal Family' gives many of us is the chance to enjoy the tremendous hospitality other Gooners offer all over the world. On this occasion Slovak fan Ondrej and his family played hosts for a fantastic couple of days enjoying the local culture of their Slovakian abode.
A big thanks to all Ondrej, his wife and new-born baby Gooner, his mum, dad, sister and in-laws and of course Gran, who despite the language barrier took quite a liking to our very own 'old boy' Treble Top.
The game is fast approaching, quite an event in this small town. First I must consume my Apple Strudel!
