A very comfortable victory on the pitch at least at Underhill then, reports of ridiculous traffic filled journeys for some meaning it wasn't quite as relaxing off it!
Fortunately I wasn't one of those forced to endure these problems and as a result thoroughly enjoyed our annual stress-free opener to the pre-season fare.
Usually summers containing a big international tournament see the majority of our squad made up of fringe players at this early stage, however on this occasion it was very much a group with a selection of many of our big name stars in both halves.
It may be just coincidence but the fact we limited our hosts to nothing more than a couple of speculative long shots throughout the 90 minutes, it seems the squad’s strength came through in a big way on the day.
The first three goals were certainly typical Arsenal free-flowing moves but other than those we've all seen many times before the biggest interest was naturally in our two summer signings.
Playing a half each, both gave early indications of what is to come and looked well capable in the red and white.
Sunshine, a chance to meet the usual faces, total relaxation and goals to boot... I make that a perfect start.
