Talking about our players coming back from internationals injury free is something I really must stop I feel. Settling down to watch Theo continue his fine start to the season for ten minutes or so the other night saw a nasty twist of the ankle that had a certain air of inevitability about it. Injuries in sport are a reality of course, but it doesn't stop it feeling so unfair.
I read this morning there is better news on the Samir front however, so let's try and be positive as we head into the first week of many this season that sees us play three times.
Many of my fellow Gooners have expressed their dislike for Bolton down the years, not because of the club in any shape or form but mainly because of their style of play. In a period that has been know as the 'Allardyce' years, not since the days under Bruce Rioch have they been thought of fondly outside of Bolton.
Big Sam's football policy has continued at his new club and totally confirms that it's the style of football that we do not like, not the individual clubs or of course their supporters.
Owen Coyle's teams on the other hand have always tried to play football the purist's way. His Burnley side won him a lot of fans and he is trying to take these footballing beliefs into his new role at the Reebok.
Our own Jack Wilshere benefitted from a load period there last season and both our league encounters proved entertaining and fortunately for us points bearing too.
The likes of Kevin Davies always prove a massive handful and the combination of his strength and our visitors' football means tomorrow will be a tough game, make no bones about it.
Since our last outing we are without a couple of our big name players, something we need to quickly get used to for a month or so. It's up to the other members of our squad to step up to the mark and produce the kind of performances they are well capable of.
Three points are a must!
