The Baggies have a unique way of celebrating when they score goals and in last season’s corresponding fixture I seem to recall them doing quite a lot of it! The whole team looked very determined to make sure it didn't happen this time around!
Match day for me was one of those that proved to be pretty full-on, from the moment I scraped myself out of bed to the early hours of Sunday morning to when I crawled back into it!
Oodles of fantastic food and drink made up early afternoon while Evanescence at Hammersmith completed the proceedings but the main event will always be the football of course and the result and performance very much contributed to a highly satisfying day all round.
Having not enjoyed such a good period since the last one it felt hugely important not to spoil it as we head into the latest international break. That meant making sure we took three points from the game above all else, with lots of goals and a dominating performance being the added bonus.
We can take massive satisfaction from the fact we got all three.
With substantial changes to our squad taking place through the summer, we all knew (or should have known) it was going to take time for the blend to be right. We are improving game by game and our results and climb up the table have mirrored that.
For me there is little else to say about Saturday's performance other than we dominated it from start to finish, scored three good goals and it was the perfect example of the increased confidence we are seeing week-in week-out from our squad.
The fact the majority now head off to various corners of the globe to represent their countries is frustrating and, of course, slightly worrying for us 'club' fans.
At least with an interesting trip to Norwich next on the agenda we can enjoy this break much more than the previous two this season safe in the knowledge that things are on the up.
See you in Norfolk.
