From a personal point of view I have always felt to be in a position to write the fan's blog on Arsenal.com you would need to be someone who travels home and away, over land and sea, week in week out. Then and only then would I feel comfortable describing my experiences as a Gooner.
Saturday was a whole new experience for me. I can genuinely say I have never watched us play in a pub! And do you know what... I hope I never have to do it again! I was a nervous wreck and hated every minute of it.
People have often said my passion for our great club is more an obsession, an addiction even. I am prepared to accept there is a degree of both in my support but the main reason I hated Saturday so much is that I genuinely wanted to be there. No other reason.
The 'stick' I got from all my fellow Gooners was amusing and expected but helped to a certain degree by making me feel in touch with events going on in the stadium.
As far as the game was concerned I thought we battled hard and ground out a win, the three points being massive as always.
When our winner hit the back of the net, one Gooner in a pub in Kent, dressed in his wedding suit, leapt around like a lunatic to the amusement of all onlookers.
Needless to say, as our magnificent away support battled against the elements on the long journey south, I thoroughly enjoyed the remainder of what had been quite a strange day personally.
Our Boxing Day postponement means Newcastle at home comes next.
Before all that it is time to enjoy the seasonal festivities.
Merry Christmas Gooners
