Writing my thoughts on the way home from a game is a rarity for a number of reasons.

Often it is simply inconvenient but the main reason is I like to give myself time for the emotions and adrenalin to calm down a little in order to give as level-headed view as possible.

Before a ball was kicked in Manchester we all would have taken a point, few Gooners I believe would argue with that.

Heading north this morning however, all those in our party were confident we could come away with all three.

A comfortable journey, despite the shocking weather conditions in the south of the country and of course the usual pre-match refreshment increased the confidence and we took our places in the away section filled with eager anticipation.

For much of the first period I felt we completely controlled the game, our patient build-up seeing a couple of excellent chances go begging. To go one behind to such a simple goal late in the half was disappointing and undeserved.

Similarly to last season our overall performance comfortably deserved at least a point but with time running out it was looking less and less likely.

Cue Kos and a thunderous strike into the roof of the net. A quite marvellous jostle ensued!

Both sides could have nicked it after our late deserved equaliser but a point is an excellent result away at the current Man City so we'll take that with satisfaction and move on.

Having gone to Montpellier last week, Wednesday sees us embark on our second of three possible roads to Wembley, this time Coventry City providing the opposition.

Once again it will be no doubt an opportunity to take a look at some of our younger talent on the big stage.

As always and all being well, I will see you there.

A late goodbye from the M40!
