The confidence that we could win the game on Tuesday night was always there but having seen our previous encounters with teams from both Russia and the Ukraine I definitely didn't expect to be witnessing such a hammering!
Five more goals to add to the nine already scored, nine points out of nine, we simply couldn't ask for any more.
The first signs that winter is well and truly on its way made for a chilly old night in London N5 but the football on offer certainly did its utmost to keep us all warm.
As always the first goal is crucial and this time it came with a degree of good fortune, the goalkeeper's error leading to Songy's cheeky flick into the net. Sami's fine turn and finish doubled the lead and with our guests now needing to attack a bit more to get anything from the game, the second half was always going to see more space to exploit as we attacked.
The jury is still out I feel as far as the extra officials behind the goal are concerned but after the Braga game saw them required for little more than nothing, the penalty decision for our third demonstrated perhaps one of the main reasons why they are of benefit.
The referee was a long way from the incident but received help from his assistant behind the goal when making the decision. TV replays have proved it was totally the correct decision and an indication of how hopefully the sometime quite ridiculous fouling that takes place in the box at set pieces can be eradicated.
Jack's goal and our fourth were worth the entrance money alone. Simply beautiful football and a delicate classy finish. Devastating, clinical and a joy to watch.
Marouane topped off a fine night all round from our point of view but just sometimes scripts seem to have been written somewhere else!
Eduardo's return saw him smack in a fine volley, no more than a consolation for our visitors but apt and quite incredible as to its inevitability.
Applauding an opponent's goal feels so wrong in normal circumstances, on this occasion however, it not only felt so right but a kind of thank you message too.
Our third league visit to one of the clubs tipped to finish in the top six this season is up next then as we travel to Man City for what we all know will be a tough encounter.
Come on you reds!
