The beauty of modern technology allows us to access results, opinions and written reports on our mobile devices and consequently I often take a quick look at BBC Sport's match report on my way home, for no other reason really than to see if their facts match the way I saw it from my arguably more biased point of view.
First things first, we definitely weren't at our free-flowing best. The BBC reporter's words however, described the first half and beginning of the second as a contest where the home side somehow managed to find themselves 1-0 down after dominating so much that the away side only had one attempt on goal.
Certainly we created enough in the first hour to be comfortably ahead.
As half time approached I was extremely confident we had shown enough to win the game in the second half. Like on Wednesday in Ukraine however, an individual mistake on the stroke of half time when there was little danger ultimately cost us the game.
More importantly for me, it gave our visitors something to cling on to and on this occasion we fell short. No disrespect intended but in a game at home to Newcastle that is a little worrying.
If we can take any positives from the day it was good to see RVP back in action and at least the team currently top of the league didn't gain any further ground.
It is safe to say we don't like playing teams in black and white stripes at the moment! With my tongue firmly in my cheek Notts County went through in the FA Cup on Saturday... I do hope we avoid them come early January!
All joking aside, mathematically we are still well in the hunt for the Premier League title but if we don't improve our consistency, especially at home, our chance will quickly evaporate.
That opportunity starts with Wednesday's tough trip to a Wolves side who thoroughly deserved to beat Man City last week and by all accounts were very unlucky not to come away from Old Trafford with anything on Saturday.
It is time to stand up and show our credentials.
