An apology is probably a strange way to start proceedings after the summer break but looking back at the end of last season I feel it is the least I can do!

My final thoughts were shared before we headed up to Ewood Park in our  penultimate game and although it was never my intention to not write again, it panned out that way for numerous reasons.

Logistically it was around about the time of a quite messy house and work move and as a result just finding my keyboard in a box was difficult enough let alone putting something in writing!

That very same move meant I travelled all the way to Blackburn on my own, the first time I have done that to any game since way back in the early Nineties. With a performance and result that was disappointing to say the least, looking back I probably wasn't in the right frame of mind to air my thoughts either!

After an injury-ravaged season that promised quite a lot until the latter stages, the main thing to come out of those final weeks is that we comfortably secured third spot with our final day victory over Fulham.

As a result Champions League football beckons yet again and this time without the need for early-season qualification.

Welcome back fellow Gooners, the next chapter has begun!
