Heading into the last 20 minutes on Tuesday evening I really felt like we were getting ever closer to heading through to the Semi-Finals yet again.
When playing against a club, however, that can call upon an array of experienced world-class talent for their 'second string', there is always a chance they will show one moment of class to deliver a killer blow.
For much of the tie I felt we looked extremely comfortable and created pretty much all of the few chances during the game. We looked ever stronger as the game went on and it was this alone that had me heading into the latter stages with confidence.
Events at Old Trafford last night showed what a good performance it was and with maybe more of a cutting edge on the night I have no doubt we would be in the last four. One thing's for sure, the continued development of players such as Manny, Francis, AOC and Ignasi is extremely encouraging.
It wasn't to be however, resulting with one of our enjoyable roads to Wembley coming to an end for another season.
The long trip to Wigan comes next for what we all hope will be a noisy and successful afternoon. We have a 'mixed' record up there so that alone should demonstrate we will have to be at our best to come away with the three points.
See you Saturday.
