Sitting here by the hotel pool in glorious Montpellier weather I pondered what to call my latest ramblings. Given the beautiful day that accompanied Saturday's fantastic result the one I have chosen feels appropriate.

After our win at Anfield I think we all hoped it wouldn't be a case of 'after the Lord Mayor's Show' on Saturday afternoon. Once our first goal hit the back of the net it was more than obvious that wasn't going to happen.

The formation - including Gervinho in a more central role - probably surprised all of us but having seen Spain use similar tactics so successfully in the summer there was no reason for us to think it wouldn't work.

Interesting nonetheless and it arguably saw Gervinho play his best game in an Arsenal shirt. In an attacking sense we were extremely potent on the day and he was pivotal in that side to our game.

Of course conceding a goal was a little disappointing especially with it being an error but I guess if we are to make the odd mistake it is better to be punished when you are four goals up!

So, a thoroughly entertaining afternoon, six goals and three points to put in with the swimming shorts and shades as we set off early Sunday morning for the south of France.

The local 'wares' took a traditional pasting last night and after a stroll round what is a beautiful city today, a snooze in the sunshine seems a great way to recharge the batteries before tonight's onslaught!

Our latest Champions League campaign starts tomorrow of course, we wouldn't be here if it didn't.

That doesn't mean we can't make the very most of the conditions.... so I'm off for a dip ;-)
