My journey home on Sunday evening was graced with a huge amount of satisfaction after picking up our third victory in a week against another team many outsiders thought we would struggle to beat given their style and personnel.

Having dominated possession and looked to win the match for pretty much the whole 90 minutes I couldn't see how anybody would suggest anything other than a victory was thoroughly deserved.

Stoke defended well and in numbers admittedly but until we re-took the lead they had done nothing but leave all 11 players in positions to try and prevent us from winning. Even though I understand why a total attacking away performance could be foolish, for me, a team that shows little or no ambition to try and take all three points deserves to go away with exactly what Sunday's visitors did. Absolutely nothing.

Even when breaking down the massive defensive wall in front of us looked more and more difficult, we kept our shape and patience extremely well. In both halves this paid huge dividends.

Gerv came out of the game with a fine opening goal and two excellent assists for RVP later in the match. I felt Songy got better and better as the game went on, revelling in his role as captain on the day and Kozz and Per at the back are looking stronger and stronger every game.

Overall I thought it was a good all-round team performance to top off our best week for some time.

The game-by-game change of competition continues tonight as what I'm sure will be a largely different line-up takes on Bolton in the Carling Cup.

Once again I am thoroughly looking forward to it.

Come on you Gooners.
