Friday 13th August 2010
Other than wearing the same red football socks on matchdays for a long period during the Nineties, superstition is not really my thing so while today's date is significant to some, to me it simply means the weekend is upon us.
Of course however, this is no ordinary weekend. The slate has been wiped clean and it is time to start all over again. Sunday brings our opening fixture of the 2010/11 season, the 35th of my own personal Gooner journey!
Walking wide-eyed and excited into the West Stand with my dad all those years ago, the packed lunch my Nan had made up for me was probably more on my mind than whether I would still be attending in 35 years time!
Yet here I am, travel plans in place and thoroughly looking forward to probably our toughest opening day fixture for many years. The good news is I'm sure our hosts will see it that way too.
All that remains for me to say as we all jump on the rollercoaster once more...
Come on you yellows!
