Construction Works, an Islington Council Initiative, acts to get local people into training and employment in the construction industry. The project works with training providers who provide excellent support and high quality training. This includes pre-employment training to meet site health and safety obligations. It can also arrange basic skills and English language training.
Construction Works has helped Islington resident Terry Pearce, get a job on the Emirates Stadium site. Construction Works arranged training for Terry, and helped him find work at E&S Heating and Ventilation.
"I am very happy with Terry's performance," says Paul Croucher, Installation Supervisor at E&S. "I want to thank Stav Aristokle, the Workplace Co-ordinator for all her help in the recruitment process. I can rely on Construction Works support as an employer should any queries or vacancies arise."
For employers, Construction Works offers a free recruitment service to screen, assess, and match applicants to vacancies.
If you want to work in construction or train for a trade or if you are an employer looking for construction staff, please contact:

The Arsenal Business Enterprise Team (ABET)
The Islington Business Enterprise Team (IBET), formerly known as ABET (Arsenal Business Enterprise Team) has been set up by Islington Council Regeneration department to help local companies, community groups and individuals benefit from the overall Arsenal development - the construction project taking place between 2004 and 2010 which not only includes Arsenal's new 60,000 seat Emirates Stadium, but also housing, associated business and retail space and the redevelopment of Arsenal Stadium itself.
For local businesses - IBET provide practical advice and information about contracts, key contacts and timescales.
For developers and contractors - IBET can put you in touch with suitable local businesses to work with you.
For community businesses and individuals - IBET focus on exploring post-construction business ideas and opportunities.
Business brokerage: IBET has established a working relationship with all the main contractors on the site. The main contractors give IBET notice of their procurement needs and IBET can then supply the names of suitable local companies to put on their tender lists.
