Newlon Housing Trust in Partnership with Arsenal Football Club is developing over 1,000 new affordable homes as part of the wider regeneration of the area arising from Arsenal's move from Highbury to Emirates Stadium.
The first new homes for Key Workers have already opened in Hornsey Street and further affordable housing developments for local people and Key Workers are in the pipeline at various sites stretching from Highbury in the east to Caledonian Road in the west.
Newlon is a not for profit charitable organisation which has been providing affordable homes to people in North and East London since 1968. The Trust has a proud record of regeneration work and is committed to building sustainable communities.
The Arsenal Regeneration programme is creating a mixture of new homes including Shared Ownership apartments to help people get on the property ladder for the first time, and low cost rented housing for local people and Key Workers.
The new developments have been designed by a range of award winning architects to create a distinctive and modern looking neighbourhood that complements the Emirates stadium design.
Two news sites are being in developed in Hornsey Street, less than two minutes walk from Holloway Road tube station.
The first residents have already moved into Hornsey Street 5-7, which offers low cost rented accommodation for local Key Workers including teachers, health professionals and members of the police service.
Hornsey Street 1-4, due for completion in mid 2007 will be a mixed development providing Shared Ownership and low cost rented accommodation for Key Workers and local people.
Round the corner in Eden Grove, 50 one and two bedroom shared ownership apartments will be available from Spring 2006, as part of the development of 3 new horseshoe-shaped apartment blocks with stepped roof terraces and communal landscaped gardens.
Perhaps the most dramatic of all the housing developments is the Northern Triangle building, which forms part of the Emirates Stadium complex. Situated right next to Emirates stadium and accessed via the Drayton Park bridges it will provide 249 new homes as both low cost rented accommodation and shared ownership apartments for Key Workers. Due for completion in July 2006, the Triangle will be Europe's largest zinc clad building.
Due for completion in December 2006 and sited in Drayton Park, close to the North Bridge and Emirates Stadium, Newlon is developing 24, one, two, and three bedroom apartments for affordable rent for local people.
Due for completion from July 2006 onwards and sited close to Caledonian Road underground station a further development of 180 apartments for low cost rent and 69 flats for Shared Ownership for local people are also under construction.
The Stadium - Highbury Square
Following Arsenal's move to Emirates stadium their historic home will be converted into apartments of which 44 will be Shared Ownership apartments available through Newlon. There will also be 6 specially adapted wheelchair units.
