To celebrate Black History Month Arsenal TV Online spoke to former Gunner Brendon Batson about his experiences as a young black footballer. In this special two-part interview the defender speaks in depth about his roots, his life at Arsenal and the years since he retired:

Part One
Brendon discusses West Indian upbringing, coming to England in 1962, being spotted by Arsenal, his first impressions of Higbury, becoming the first black player to play for the Gunners, his role models and the changes in the game.

Part Two
Brendon talks about the horrenduos racist abuse he suffered, his impact on the local community, rising above the barrage of insults, his dismay at the lack of action by the authorities and what he believes it takes to make it in football.
