On the pitch…

Arsenal were defeated by League Two side Bradford City in the quarter-final of the Capital One Cup, going down 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw - to the disappointment of Arsene Wenger. That setback followed Saturday's comfortable 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion. Mikel Arteta was the matchwinner with two penalties, and he praised the Club's fans afterwards. There was good news for Arsenal's youngsters as they progressed to the knockout stages of the NextGen Series with an impressive 4-2 win over Athletic Bilbao. Of Arsenal's loanees, Emmanuel Frimpong played 90 minutes as Charlton drew at home to Brighton.

Off the pitch...

Arsenal dedicated their game against West Bromwich Albion to The Arsenal Foundation with players and staff contributing a day's wages to the cause. The Club reminded fans that there is planned industrial action taking place on the London Underground on Wednesday, December 26 - the day of the home game with West Ham. A quarter of Double-winning legends including Charlie George and Bob Wilson will take part in a signing session and Q&A at the Armoury on Thursday. Finally, young Gunner Philip Roberts extended his loan spell with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
