William Jeffrey was a full back by trade but played in goal for a number of his league and FA Cup starts for Arsenal.

Jeffrey joined from Burnley during the 1891/92 season and made his debut in an FA Cup qualifying victory over the Highland Light Infantry in October 1892.

He played a fringe role until his departure to Southampton St Mary's in summer 1894 after appearing 31 times.
