He was, however, the hero as the Daggers beat Leyton Orient on penalties in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, scoring his own spot-kick before making a vital save in an epic shoot-out.
James received a surprise ‘call-up’ to help out England at London Colney after an injury to David Stockdale in the 2010/11 campaign.
He has been on the bench for the first team and spent eight days on loan with Southampton in 2011.
