on the first half...
"We were a bit fortunate maybe that Heskey
didn't have a second goal just before half time, but on the
other hand Jens saved it, because he touched the ball with his
hand. We had a little bit of a difficult start that you have after
an international break, the players are not there, they can't
get into the game."
on the second...
"The second half we needed more urgency, more
drive going forward and that was all in the side. You could feel in
the second half we can come back, and as well of course if they had
maybe a chance to score a second goal when they wanted a penalty.
Was it a penalty or not I don't know, but it was a situation
where you can expect anything. There was maybe as well one on the
other side."
on yet another comeback...
"We don't decide to put ourselves in that
position because our opponents play well, and first of all
everybody comes here and starts very well. We have difficulty to
start, and then as well I fell that usually the [other] teams drop
in the final part of the game. And today don't forget that we
have shown great character and resilience and that we had a real go
as well. We had six strikers on the pitch at the end of the game,
so when we attack we can be dangerous. We had Adebayor, we had
Henry, Aliadiere, Rosicky, Baptista and Fabregas, and at the back
we had a midfielder - two midfielders, so we played practically
with eight players who can bring something going forward. Of course
you can lose the game as well but we can score goals."
on Lehmann being suspended for the Carling Cup Final...
"What I don't understand is that Jens
Lehmann gets straight away a yellow card on the first time he runs
across the goal, but Kirkland did that the whole game. Frankly he
was out of it anyway, but I would have preferred him not to be
booked because you never know what can happen, you might have
injuries and you might need him, you know? If Almunia gets injured,
or Poom gets injured, we need him as a keeper, but ideally if all
the keepers are available he would not have got booked."
on new injuries...
"It looks like [Djourou] has a broken nose, I
think he could play very quickly but I don't know. Cesc
Fabregas has a little problem with the knee, I don't know how
bad it is."
on suggestions that Mathieu Flamini
was offside for the first goal...
"Maybe he was a few inches, yes or no, but we
conceded a goal in the Champions League final that was offside and
nobody complained about it. If you want these decision completely
clear you cannot accuse the referee of doing right or wrong, you
need to battle for video assistance. For as long as you don't
have video assistance you can't ask that question after every
game. Of course maybe it's a little but annoying because this
decision has gone for us today, but plenty of these decisions have
gone against us, don't worry."
