Wenger on...the performance
"I think we played a good first half. We passed the ball well
against a team that was very well organised to stop us from
playing. The speed of our passing made the difference. In the
second half it was more possession than penetration and therefore
it was less attractive to watch."
Wenger on...on Cardiff
"You got a typical cup game. You knew at half
time that they will never give up, they will go to the end and try
and nick a goal. They got that and the last five minutes were
interesting again. We were steady, consistent, and defended well.
Especially the centre backs did very well, they were resilient for
90 minutes and kept belief until the last second of the
game."
Wenger on...Djourou and Gilbert
"Gilbert played very well, he looks reliable at
right back. Djourou was born in 1987, so he will be 19 in
2006. I think he will develop well. He is very comfortable with the
ball, has strong character and a strong build. Both of them
have a future."
Wenger on...the goals
"The two goals were great goals. The speed of our passing got
them out of position. They were good Arsenal goals."
Wenger on...the second half
"In the second half you could see a few times when the crosses
came in it was us not being enough in the box, or forcing them to
make a mistake. Once we'd dropped our level physically a little
bit in the second half we were less penetrative. I feel we played
more to keep the ball than to kill them off."
