Arsenal.com will be keeping you up to date with all the Arsenal-related news from Euro 2004.
A number of Arsène Wenger's squad are involved in the tournament, which ends on Sunday, July 4. Read on for all the latest news involving Arsenal players.
SWEDEN 2-2 DENMARK
Freddie Ljungberg helped Sweden to
qualify for the Quarter-Finals from Group C at the expense of
Italy. A late equaliser from Mattias Jonson made the scoreline 2-2,
a result that took the two Scandinavian sides through to the last
eight. Freddie played the full 90 minutes for the Swedes who will
now play the runners-up in Group D, any from the Czech Republic,
Germany, Holland or Latvia.
ENGLAND 4-2 CROATIA
England secured their place in the Quarter-Finals
with a memorable 4-2 win over Croatia in Lisbon. Despite going a
goal behind after just five minutes, goals from Paul Scholes and a
double from Wayne Rooney put England 3-1 ahead. Igor Tudor pulled
one back for Croatia before Frank Lampard made sure with
England's fourth. Both Sol Campbell and
Ashley Cole played the full 90 minutes at the
back. England will now play hosts Portugal on Thursday June 24.
FRANCE 3-1 SWITZERLAND
France swept Switzerland aside to progress to the
Quarter-Finals as group winners. Zidane opened the scoring for the
French before Vonlanthen equalised for the Swiss. Thierry
Henry then opened his Championship account with two goals
in the final 14 minutes. Patrick Vieira and
Robert Pires played the full game for France,
Sylvain Wiltord was an unused substitute. The
European Championship holders will play Greece in Lisbon on
Friday.
LATVIA 0-0 GERMANY
Igors Stepanovs helped Latvia to one of the shocks of the
tournament as Latvia held Germany to a 0-0 draw in Group D. Igors
played the full 90 minutes in Oporto and has given his side an
outside chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals.
GERMANY 0-0 LATVIA
Jens Lehmann was again on the bench for Germany's
disappointing 0-0 draw with Latvia. However, the Germans would
qualify for the quarter-finals with a win in their final group game
against the Czech Republic, or with a draw if the other game in
Group D finishes level.
* Wiltord and Stepanovs have been released by Arsenal but will
remain Arsenal players until their contracts expire on June 30.
