ARSENAL IN THE COMMUNITY WELCOMES TWO NEW STAFF
MEMBERS
We are delighted to welcome Jamie Monteith and Ross McKinley to the
Department.
Jamie is no stranger to us, having worked on the Kickz project on
local estates for the past year. He joins us fulltime to work on
the expansion of the Kickz programme and to assist with other
Community projects. Jamie has been known to the Department since he
was in primary school through his participation in various
community initiatives.
Ross joins us as the Double Club junior assistant and will be
helping the team as the Double Club education programme reaches
even more schools.
D.J. WORKSHOPS STARTING ON TWO LOCAL ESTATES IN
FINSBURY
After a successful pilot project on Harvist Estate, Arsenal
Positive Futures will be continuing D.J. workshops in the south of
the borough on Finsbury Estate and King Square next month. The
project is funded by Islington Young Peoples' service. The
young people will be taught by Gabriel Myddelton who is from
Islington and plays and releases music under the name
'Heatwave'. He also runs a label called Scandalbag. For
more information please email Dean Miller at
dmiller2@arsenal.co.uk.

COMMUNITY CLOSE-UP
ARSENAL'S EX-PRO AND CELEBS XI
The Arsenal Ex-pro and Celebrity XI are in their 16th year of
raising money for charity. Some of those who often line up are
Brian Hornsby, Perry Groves, Tony Murtagh, Marvin Berglas, Mark
Burdis, Phil Daniels, Tony Hadley, Ralf Little, Mark Ramprakash,
Johnny Harrison, Terry Marsh, Matt Mansfield, Alan Paris, Jason
Rush, Frank Thompson, Paul Wood, Tommy Walsh and Robbie
Gee.
Another two of our players have been in the news recently. Cricketer Mark Ramprakash has just completed another magnificent season for Surrey - scoring more than 2,000 runs and an average of over 100 for the second season running. No other cricketer has achieved a 100 run average in consecutive seasons. There is no ballroom dancing for Mark this winter. He has been granted a benefit year by Surrey in 2008, so he will be busy preparing for that and will also be hoping to get in as much football as he can with Arsenal's ex-pro and celeb team.
It was nice to welcome back Matt Mansfield who made a recent cameo appearance for the team. Matt suffered a terrible broken leg last year and it was great to see him back in action. He showed tremendous courage during his recovery and his first steps on the pitch a few weeks ago also took some guts. Well done Matt.
Below are some of their forthcoming fixtures. Please head down to show your support.
