Arsenal were beaten by Tottenham in the final of the Southern Masters on Sunday.

The Gunners battled through to face their North London rivals at the Milton Keynes Planet Ice Arena but, hampered by injuries to key players, they went down 6-1.

Nigel Winterburn captained Arsenal on his debut in the tournament and led by example as the Gunners remained unbeaten after their three group matches.

Steve Williams' strike earned a 1-1 draw against Portsmouth in Arsenal's opening game before goals from Paul Davis and Danny O'Shea secured a 2-1 win against Southampton.

Davis struck again as the Gunners drew 1-1 with Spurs in what proved to be a dress rehearsal for the final. Martin Hayes netted as the old rivals locked horns again but Tottenham ran out comfortable winners.
