September 2007

Alex made two Premier League appearances from the bench in September. His role has largely been to shore up the defence towards the end of matches. The manner in which he did that led to praise from Arsène Wenger and a starting berth in the 2-0 win over Newcastle in the Carling Cup, playing at centre-back. He sat out the final game on the month against West Ham with a slight calf problem.

August 2007

Alex made three substitute appearances for Arsène Wenger's side in August. He has largely been used to shore up the defensive side of the team in the closing stages of the game, notably when Arsenal took a late lead against Manchester City.

March 2007

Alexandre featured in all three of Charlton's games in March. The Cameroonian midfielder played a part in both goals in the 2-2 draw with Watford, setting up the first for Luke Young with a delightful defence-splitting through-ball. His performance earned him another start in the 2-0 victory over Newcastle however the 19-year-old had to be replaced five minutes before the break. He ended the month with a full 90 minutes as the Addicks maintained their winning habit with a 1-0 win against Wigan.

February 2007

Alexandre is enjoying his taste of Premiership football across London at Charlton after featuring in two of their biggest games in February. The Cameroonian midfielder played a full 90 minutes against league leaders Manchester United but couldn't prevent a 2-0 defeat. However, in his next appearance the Addicks recorded an incredible 4-0 victory over fellow strugglers West Ham United.

January 2007

Alex started the month with his first Arsenal goal in the 6-3 Carling Cup Quarter-final win at Liverpool but finished the month by going out on loan to Premiership strugglers Charlton. A full 90 minutes at Anfield was the Cameroonian midfielder's only Gunners action as he spent most of the month away with his country at the African Youth Championship. The Indomitable Lions picked up just one win to finish bottom of Group B.

December 2006

A quiet month for Alex as he failed to make an appearance for the Gunners. The Frenchman was an unused substitute for the 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United but was left out of the squad for Arsenal's other seven games. The 19-year-old has played twice for the Reserves this season but Neil Banfield's second string had no fixtures in December.

November 2006

A quiet month for Alex. The Frenchman's only full appearance came against Everton in the Carling Cup although he did play the first half of the 2-1 defeat at Fulham.

October 2006

Alex was named on the bench for the games against Watford, CSKA Moscow and Reading, where he came on for the final 11 minutes. The tough-tackling midfielder was then handed a starting role for the 2-0 Carling Cup victory over West Bromwich Albion but missed out on the final game of the month against Everton. He also played a full 90 minutes in the 'behind closed doors' friendly against Charlton.

September 2006

Alex managed two appearances for the first team in September, as a substitute against both Hamburg and Manchester United. While this represented valuable experience for the tough-tackling 18-year-old he will also be pleased with a solid 90 minutes in the 2-0 Reserve win against Portsmouth at Underhill.

August 2006

A low-key month for Alex who played the last 18 minutes of the friendly win at Alkmaar before being an unused substitute in both games against Dinamo Zagreb. The midfielder ended August by playing the entire 90 minutes of the Reserves' win over Charlton at Underhill, setting up one goal for Emmanuel Adebayor.

May 2006

A good month for Alex as he started consecutive Premiership games against Sunderland and Manchester City. The midfielder played no part in the other two fixtures of the month against Wigan and Barcelona.

April 2006

Alex enjoyed a good month, starting the draw with Portsmouth and looking comfortable in central midfield alongside fellow teenager Abou Diaby. The Cameroonian ended April with a start for Arsenal's reserve team against West Ham's second-string at Upton Park.

March 2006

A quiet month for Alex who made just two appearances; a start for the reserves in their win over Charlton at Barnet FC and a late substitute appearance in the Gunners' 3-0 Premiership victory over Charlton's senior side at Higbury. He was also an unused substitute against Real Madrid, Liverpool and Juventus.

February 2006

Alex made just one first-team appearance this month - as a last-minute substitute for Cesc Fabregas in the Gunners' historic win at Real Madrid. He also played three games for the reserves against Portsmouth, Chelsea and Tottenham, providing Arturo Lupoli with an assist against Spurs.

January 2006

Alex Song did not make any appearances in January.

December 2005

Alex recovered from the leg injury he sustained in the Champions League game with FC Thun in November to start the Youth Cup fixture with Brentford in the middle of December. Despite scoring for the Gunners in normal time, he could not prevent Steve Bould's men from losing on penalties. His next outing was rather more fruitful - he played the entire 120 minutes as Arsenal beat Doncaster on penalties to reach the Semi Finals of the Carling Cup.

November 2005

It was a mixed month for Alex who was handed only the second start of his Arsenal career in Switzerland against Thun. The loan-signing from Bastia put in an impressive performance before injuring his leg just before the hour mark and limping off. The injury ended Alex's month, forcing him to miss the Gunners' final two fixtures including the Carling Cup tie with Reading.
